Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip Cookies

I will never understand red velvet cake. It is not chocolatey enough to be a chocolate cake. It does not taste like anything else. It tastes like red. Cake should have a clear flavor. Clearly I missed a Southern culture lesson.

These cookies correct everything wrong with red velvet cake. The carrier dough for chocolate chips does not have to have a flavor besides sugar, so red velvet works here. It also makes Chris happy, because red velvet. And I love anything with white chocolate chips.

Original recipe from Whipperberry

Yields 2 dozen small cookies

  • 1 box of Red Velvet Cake Mix

  • 1 cup of All-Purpose Flour

  • 2 sticks of softened butter

  • 1 egg

  • 2 cups of White Chocolate Chunks

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, add butter and mix until soft and fluffy.  Slowly add cake mix and flour. Once combined, add egg and mix completely.  Add white chocolate chunks, and mix for a minute or so until well combined.  Form dough into one inch balls, and place into the oven for 8-10 minutes.
